Chandigarh, Jan 5 (PTI) Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Friday chaired a review meeting for the aspirational district programme in Nuh and evaluated sectors such as health and nutrition, education, agriculture, water resources and basic infrastructure.
The chief secretary underscored the NITI Aayog’s intensified focus on the development of Nuh district, aligning the efforts of the Centre and Haryana government.
Directing the deputy commissioner of Nuh to address pivotal issues and promptly submit proposals to the government for various programmes and schemes, the chief secretary emphasized the need for the departments to establish targets and timelines, surpassing state standards to position Nuh as a leading district.
According to an official statement, Kaushal emphasized the health department’s pivotal role in grassroots-level initiatives for health and nutrition.
Acknowledging positive statistics on women’s institutional delivery, he stressed the imperative of continuous maintenance.
The education department officials received instructions to intensify efforts on the children’s education and skill development, expanding successful initiatives like “Balika Vahini” to further reduce the girls’ school dropouts.
Recognising Nuh’s potential as a vegetable-growing hub, Kaushal proposed a large vegetable market to benefit the farmers cultivating high-quality tomatoes and onions.
The aspirational districts programme aims to improve governance at the block level in order to enhance the quality of the life of the citizens.
It is being implemented in 500 aspirational blocks across 329 districts in the country.
At another event in Nuh, Kaushal flagged off 18 electric scooters for the women supervisors of the Women and Child Development department.
This initiative has been facilitated by the NITI Aayog through the Mewat Development Agency.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief secretary highlighted the field-oriented nature of the women supervisors’ responsibilities.
Kaushal said the provision of these scooters aims at facilitating the supervisors in checking the Anganwadis situated in the remote areas and villages, ensuring the success of vaccination campaigns and efficiently handling tasks related to the registration of women and children.
He added that the supervisors often faced challenges reaching the villages and accessing the Anganwadi centers, making simultaneous checks in multiple villages.
The chief secretary said the introduction of these scooters aims to ease their access to the Anganwadis in the villages, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.
The primary objective behind providing these scooters is to simplify and streamline their work, he added, according to an official statement. PTI SUN AS AS
