New Delhi: Three days after they arrested Ritik, a YouTuber who goes by the name Doperman, Gurugram Police Thursday filed another FIR against five men who paraded and assaulted him for feeding non-veg momos to a cow.
The FIR was filed on a complaint by the 29-year-old’s father. All five accused have been arrested. They are all residents of Gurugram.
On 8 December, Ritik live streamed a momo-eating competition at Huda Market during which he fed non-veg momos to a cow. In a video of the incident, which went viral, the 29-year-old can be heard confirming with the vendor if the dish is chicken. He then starts eating it, before saying that he is full and feeding it to a cow.
“The police teams have also recovered the mobile phone used in the incident from the accused,” Gurugram police said in a statement.
The YouTuber has been booked under relevant sections for acts intended to outrage religious feelings and committing mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any animal. “Ritik is accused of feeding objectionable material (non-veg momos) to a cow and making the video viral on social media,” Gurugram police said in its statement.
After the video started garnering attention across social media, a group of five men barged into the YouTuber’s house and assaulted him. Threatening to kill him, they also filmed the whole incident. According to the police, the accused confessed to committing the assault and making a reel of the assault in response to the YouTuber feeding non-veg momos to a cow. In a video of the assault, the men accuse him of disrespecting and insulting Hinduism.
