Jamnagar, Mar 26 (PTI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will begin the fight to eradicate corruption from the very grassroots level if voted to power in the Gujarat local body polls, its national convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said here on Thursday.
The ruling BJP and the opposition Congress are in collusion in Gujarat and are together looting the state, he added.
“Until now, people here lacked an alternative, but now, that alternative has arrived in the form of AAP. You finally have a choice. This time, you must all wield the broom (AAP symbol) to sweep away the old order,” Kejriwal said.
Dates for the local body polls have not been announced as yet.
“In Punjab, we have a government of farmers. Every month, it provides 1,000 rupees to every woman. We have secured insurance coverage worth Rs 10 lakh for every family. We have made electricity free for every household. All four of these initiatives can be implemented in Gujarat as well. We must oust the BJP and bring people’s power,” he asserted.
Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann are on a three-day Gujarat tour ahead of local body polls. They were in Amreli on Wednesday. On Thursday, they addressed the ‘Vijay Vishwas Sabha’ at Lalpur here, focusing on Saurashtra region.
Prior to 2022, the duopoly of the Congress and the BJP-Akali Dal alliance existed in Punjab as well, and both these parties would govern alternately for five years, and systematically loot the state, Kejriwal alleged.
“In 2022, the public drove both parties out of the state, handing 92 out of 117 seats to a new party. For the past four years, the AAP has been in power there. In Punjab, the government belongs to farmers. Punjab is now a prosperous and thriving state because the CM is the son of a farmer,” he said.
Kejriwal said the AAP government’s success and welfare initiatives can be replicated in Gujarat as well.
“Vote for AAP in the upcoming elections for panchayats, municipalities, and municipal corporations. This time, give us a chance. First and foremost, we will begin the fight to eradicate corruption from the very grassroots level,” Kejriwal told the gathering. PTI KA PD BNM
