Jaipur, Mar 15 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday said the state government is working with the resolve of building a ‘Viksit Rajasthan’ and the enthusiasm among people would further strengthen its efforts to build a developed state.
Addressing participants at the ‘Viksit Rajasthan Run’ held at Amar Jawan Jyoti as part of the Rajasthan Diwas celebrations, Sharma said, “Health is wealth. Starting the day with a run keeps one energetic throughout the day. Staying fit and healthy is important”.
He said Rajasthan Day used to be traditionally celebrated on March 30 to mark the formation of the state in 1949, when several princely states were merged to create Greater Rajasthan. The day was Chaitra Shukla Pratipada (the first day of the Hindu month of Chaitra).
Therefore, the state government has started observing Rajasthan Diwas from last year on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada instead of March 30.
This year, the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada is on March 19 when the main celebration will take place in Jalore.
A series of programmes to mark Rajasthan Day began on March 14 and will continue till March 19 across the state.
On March 16, Rajasthan Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas will be organised at Beneshwar Dham. The programme will include foundation-laying ceremonies for development works, exhibitions of tribal art and handicrafts and interaction sessions.
Rajasthan Yuva Shakti Diwas will be celebrated on March 17 with a state-level youth conference in Jaipur, while March 18 will be observed as Farmers and Livestock Rearers Prosperity Day. On the occasion, an evening ‘aarti’ will be performed at state-run temples and the chief minister will participate in a ‘maha aarti’.
The main Rajasthan Day function will be held in Jalore on March 19. A beneficiaries’ conference will be organised where interaction with beneficiaries and direct benefit transfers will take place. A state-level cultural programme will also be held in Jaipur in the evening. PTI SDA DV DV
