New Delhi: The government has extended the deadline for submitting proposals for research and development (R&D) under the National Green Hydrogen Mission till 27 April 2024. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy said the extension was to ensure sufficient time for the institutions to submit good-quality proposals, considering the calls received from various sectors.

The R&D Scheme under the National Green Hydrogen Mission will focus on the production, storage, transportation, and utilization of green hydrogen to make it more affordable. The mission is expected to play a key role in promoting green technologies and improving the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the relevant processes and technologies involved in the green hydrogen value chain.

The scheme also aims to foster partnerships among industry, academia, and government to create an innovation ecosystem for green hydrogen technologies. It is expected to help in scaling up and commercializing green hydrogen technologies by providing the necessary policy and regulatory support. The R&D Scheme has a total budgetary outlay of Rs 400 crore till the financial year 2025-26 and will provide funding to eligible projects in the form of grants.

Under the scheme, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy will provide R&D proposals with an aim to make the production, storage, transportation, and utilization of green hydrogen more affordable. The guidelines for the R&D scheme were issued on 15 March 2024, and the call for proposals was issued on 16 March 2024. The Ministry has extended the deadline for submission of proposals to 27 April 2024.
