New Delhi: British national Jamie Ray Meek was going back to his home “Happily Happily” in London from Ahmedabad with a promise of a full-length vlog on his India stay. He was one of the 242 people on board the Air India plane that crashed Thursday afternoon.
“I will go back and make a proper vlog on the whole trip,” he mentioned in one of his instagram stories posted on Wednesday night, a day before the crash. Meek was one of the 53 British nationals on board the Air India flight en route from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick airport.
About 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals were on board.
“So it’s our last night in India, and we have had a magical experience. It’s been some quite mind blowing things that have happened,” read Meek’s post on Instagram. “We are at the airport, just boarding. Goodbye India — on a 10-hour flight back to London,” Meek is seen saying in the video.
According to his Instagram profile, Meek was a spiritual practitioner and yoga teacher.
In most of his instagram posts, he can be seen talking about limitless energy of the soul—essentially learning to connect deeply with their inner strength or spiritual energy.
Now, after the Ahmedabad plane crash, the comment section of his last Instagram post is flooded with ‘RIP’ comments.
Designer to businesswoman
Dhir Baxi, another passenger on board the Air India flight, has a total of 23 posts on Instagram, mostly of her photoshoots. A designer and creative director, her bio reads “Paris and London.” Each post carries the caption “MAFIA QUEENS OF MUMBAI”, accompanied by credits to various collaborators and brands involved in clothing, makeup, videography, editing, photography, and hairstyling.
On her last Instagram post from November 2024, a ‘RIP’ comment was added on Thursday evening. “RIP young talent,” it read. In the post, Baxi is seen wearing a striking red gown styled with an Indo-Western flair, complemented by a traditional gajra in her hair.
Another notable photoshoot titled “Tulsi in Nehru Jacket and Pleated Shorts (with detachable pleated panel)” shows Baxi dressed in a crisp white Nehru jacket with a red rose on the chest, paired elegantly with a skirt and a flowing veil.
In one of her recent posts, Baxi is posing for a shoot in an aesthetic background with dusted white tiles, standing beside a white wall. She captioned it “Mafia queens of Mumbai”.
Dhir Baxi was with Heer Baxi on the flight. Heer’s Instagram account is private.
Another passenger on board the Air India plane, Neha Pramukh Nanda, was the founder of Cargo Motors Group. She has a Linkedin account but there is not much activity there. She was travelling with her family members, Pramukh Pravesh Nanda and Prayash Pramukh Nanda.
Neha Pramukh Nanda was a senior member of the family-led Cargo Motors Group, and was actively involved in the group’s automobile and vehicle businesses across India. She held directorship positions in several companies, including Caravel Motors Pvt Ltd, Cargo Motors Ahmedabad Pvt Ltd, Cargo Motor Sales & Services Pvt Ltd, and Cargo Motorcycles LLP. Nanda had over two decades of leadership experience.
According to data from flight tracking platform Flightradar24, the Air India flight lost signal at an altitude of just 625 feet, less than a minute after the takeoff.
Air India has issued a passenger hotline number – 1800 5691 444 – to provide more information about the crash. A help desk and assistance area are being set up outside the now temporarily closed Ahmedabad airport for the relatives of the passengers of the ill-fated flight.
