Mumbai, Apr 1 (PTI) Jewellery worth about Rs 1.75 crore has been stolen from a Jain temple in central Mumbai’s Lalbag area, police said on Wednesday.

The theft at the temple managed by the Avighna State Munisurat Swami Shwetambar Murtipujak Jain Sangh Trust came to light on Monday morning, said an official of Kalachowkie police station.

The lock of the temple had been broken. Gold jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore and a diamond jewellery piece valued at Rs 25 lakh were found to be missing, the official said.

A suspect has been identified from CCTV footage and was likely to be arrested soon, he added. PTI ZA KRK
