Hyderabad, Mar 16 (PTI) A four-year-old girl, who went missing, was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered here, following which a 25-year-old man was arrested, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday when the accused took the girl with him from a labour camp after offering her chocolates.
The accused, who stays in the neighbourhood, took the girl to nearby bushes and sexually assaulted and killed her, a police official said.
The victim’s father approached the Narsingi police station on Sunday and filed a missing complaint.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Serilingampally Zone) Ch Srinivas said in a release.
During the investigation, police collected evidence and identified the suspect who took the girl with him.
The suspect, a mason and native of Malda District of West Bengal was apprehended, and he confessed to committing the crime.
The accused led the police to the girl’s body, which was found in nearby bushes.
The police further said that there are many labour camps in Narsingi police station limits, where migrant workers from various states are staying.
