Thane, Mar 19 (PTI) A fire broke out in a cluster of furniture godowns in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Thursday, damaging three to four units, officials said.
Nobody was injured in the blaze that erupted around 11.30 am at the Chamunda Complex in the Kasheli area, said fire officer Nitin Chavan from the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation.
Fire tenders from Bhiwandi, Thane and Kalyan were sent to the spot, and an operation to control the fire is underway, he said.
“Firefighters are facing difficulty in containing the flames due to the highly combustible furniture material stored on the premises,” Chavan said.
Three to four furniture godowns have been gutted, said the official, adding that the cause of the fire was not immediately known. PTI COR NR
