Indore, Apr 12 (PTI) Panic briefly gripped the Regal Square area of Indore on Sunday morning after a fire broke out in Rani Sarai building, also the old police control room, following sparks from electrical wiring, though no one was injured in the incident, a police official said.

Luckily, a significant amount of scrap material lying within the premises did not catch fire, which could have led to major repercussions, Choti Gwaltoli police station house officer (SHO Sanju Kamle told PTI.

The spot is situated adjacent to Choti Gwaltoli police station, where a large number of seized vehicles have been dumped. The blaze could have spread quickly in the congested area if these vehicles had caught fire.

“Due to timely intervention of the fire brigade, the situation was brought under control very fast. The blaze broke out around 9.45 am and was put out in 45 minutes,” he added.

According to eyewitnesses, sparks from electric wiring ignited nearby dry shrubs, prompting those in the vicinity to alert the fire brigade. PTI COR LAL BNM
