New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said that the fight to save democracy will continue after the Supreme Court rejected a plea alleging irregularities in the 2024 Maharashtra elections.

Raut said that their fight against election rigging will continue in states like Bihar and Maharashtra.

During the press conference, Sanjay Raut said, “This does not mean that our fight is over. Whether it is Bihar or Maharashtra, we will continue to raise our voice against the rigging that has occurred and will continue to occur in the elections… The fight to save democracy never stops.”
Raut said the court’s decision was not acceptable and raised concerns over polling after 5 PM and the denial of CCTV footage.

“The decision given by the SC is not acceptable to us. Everyone knows how the elections in Maharashtra were hijacked, with many voters arriving at the polling booth after 5 pm. Where did they come from? We are asking for the CCTV footage, but they are not giving it to us,” Raut added.
The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition alleging discrepancies in the Maharashtra Assembly elections held in November 2024.

A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and Justice N Kotiswar Singh declined the plea filed by one Chetan Chandrakant Ahire against a Bombay High Court order of June 2025.
Ahire sought to declare the election results as void on the allegation that about 75 lakh bogus voters had cast their votes after the closing of the polls at 6 pm.

He sought a declaration that the results across all 288 assembly constituencies in the state be set aside due to alleged violations in the polling process.

The petitioner also sought a constituency-wise breakdown of votes cast outside official hours and the revocation of election certificates for successful candidates.

The High Court had dismissed his plea, observing that the petition was founded solely on a single newspaper report, contained speculative and unsubstantiated claims, and amounted to a gross abuse of the process of law.
