Deoria (UP), Mar 15 (PTI) Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal supremo Jayant Chaudhary on Sunday said farmers can expand their business by accessing better markets through farmer producer organisations and need to work in an organised manner to become economically stronger.

He said the government has increased the limit of the Kisan Credit Card to provide easy loans to farmers, but the benefits of such schemes will be fully realised only when farmers become aware and work collectively in groups.

Addressing a public meeting here, he said, “Farmers need to work in an organised manner to become economically stronger and can expand their business by accessing better markets through farmer producer organisations (FPOs).” Chaudhary said farmers are by nature risk-takers as they take risks every season in agriculture.

“If the younger generation of farmers develops an understanding of business and management along with farming, the condition of villages can change significantly,” he said.

Referring to the work done for farmers by his grandfather, former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, and his father, former union minister Chaudhary Ajit Singh, he said the NDA government is also working for farmers in line with their ideas.

He said farmers today are not helpless but represent the country’s cultural heritage. PTI ABN APL
