Medininagar (Jharkhand), Apr 1 (PTI) Eight gangsters were arrested for allegedly attempting to kidnap a man in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, police said on Wednesday.

The victim, Anand Kumar Ravi, in his complaint, said that the gang attempted to kidnap him near Bhatthi Colony area on Monday. However, he somehow managed to escape and reached the Town police station.

“Based on the complaint, eight members of a gang, including main accused Saddam Qureshi, were arrested,” Palamu Superintendent of Police Reeshma Ramesan said.

The accused were intercepted at Bisfoota Chowk on Tuesday while they were attempting to flee Medininagar town. Upon searching their vehicle, two pistols, 15 cartridges, and four mobile phones were seized, the SP said.

Medininagar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rajeev Ranjan said that the accused have told the police that they attempted to abduct Ravi over a land grabbing dispute in Pahari Colony.

All eight accused, aged between 25 and 30 years, have criminal antecedents. They have been sent to judicial custody, police said. PTI COR RPS RPS ACD
