Education Minister Meets Classical Language Scholars

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with scholars from five newly classified classical languages – Prakrit, Pali, Marathi, Bangla, and Assamese – at an event today. The scholars expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for including these languages in the prestigious list of classical languages, a PIB press release stated.

The event saw the presence of Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti Chairman Chamu KrishnaShastry, UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar, academics, scholars, and Ministry officials.

Minister Pradhan reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting learning in Indian languages, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. He emphasized the government’s efforts to celebrate, honor, and preserve the country’s linguistic heritage.

Pradhan highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s stance that all languages spoken in India are Indian languages. He assured the scholars that the government is dedicated to strengthening and facilitating learning in all Indian languages. The Minister emphasized that the soul of India is embodied in its languages.
