5.4-magnitude earthquake hits Jammu and Kashmir, tremors felt in Delhi, parts of north India

New Delhi: A 5.4-magnitude earthquake shook Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday afternoon, spreading tremors through Delhi and parts of north India.

The quake struck minutes after 1.30 pm and lasted a few seconds.

The National Center for Seismology soon tweeted: “Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.4, Occurred on 13-06-2023, 13:33:42 IST, Lat: 33.15 & Long: 75.82, Depth: 6 Km, Location: Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, India.”

Tremors were also felt in Lahore, Pakistan.

On 22 March, Delhi felt the aftershocks of a 6.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Afghanistan. The epicentre of that quake was located 40 kilometres south-southeast of Jurm, in Afghanistan’s mountainous Hindukush region, which borders Pakistan and Tajikistan.
