New Delhi, Mar 13 (PTI) A CISF jawan, who was manning the Transport Bhawan near the Parliament House complex, was on Friday allegedly hit by the driver of a car that ferries government officials.

According to officials, the CISF personnel suffered minor injuries in the accident and is safe.

The incident took place in the “highly sensitive” area around 9:30 am, triggering a flurry of activities just before the Parliament session was about to begin at 11 am.

The driver of a car, registered with the Transport Bhawan and bearing relevant government stickers, hit one of the two armed jawans on duty at the main gate while entering.

The car apparently had no occupants.

The officials said the “reckless” driver could not navigate and struck Constable Sooraj Kumar.

They said one of the two entry gates was closed to control vehicular movement.

While the Delhi Police control room was informed, the CISF jawan has not lodged a formal complaint against the driver who is a private person, they said.

The officials said the driver has been removed from service.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) provides armed security cover to the Transport Bhawan on Sansad Marg, controlling entry and exit to the building.

It houses the ministries of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Tourism, along with some other central government departments. PTI NES NB NB
