DoT upgrades telecom infrastructure for Amarnath Yatra

Improved connectivity for pilgrims along the Yatra routes.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has announced significant improvements in telecom infrastructure to ensure seamless mobile connectivity for pilgrims participating in the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2024, a PIB press release stated.

To ensure better mobile connectivity for the pilgrims during the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2024, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has collaborated with major telecom service providers (TSPs) to upgrade the infrastructure.

As per the new initiative, a total of 82 sites will be active including Airtel, BSNL, and Reliance JIO. The new sites have been installed along the Yatra routes to provide continuous coverage. The entire route from Lakhanpur to Qazigund and from Qazigund to Pahalgam and Baltal will be covered with 2G, 3G, 4G, including 5G technology.
