Mumbai, Apr 1 (PTI) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday accused the Centre of lying over the availability of cooking gas cylinders in the wake of the West Asia war and said it should take people into confidence over the issue.
The Rajya Sabha MP claimed there is a shortage of LPG cylinders in the country.
Talking to reporters, Raut said there was a “lockdown-like” situation in Pakistan and many other countries due to a shortage of fuel.
“Don’t trust the (Union) government. It is lying. There is a shortage of LPG and it will persist,” he said.
Even the government cannot do anything on this (LPG availability) due to the ongoing war in West Asia which has entered its second month, Raut maintained.
“But our only point is (the government should) not lie and take people into confidence,” he insisted.
The war in West Asia, triggered by the joint US-Israel attacks on Iran on February 28, has disrupted the global energy supply chain. India sources a significant portion of its energy needs, particularly oil and gas, from Gulf countries. PTI PR RSY
