New Delhi: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga heaped praise on Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, calling it an “outstanding film.” He also took a swipe at the industry for mocking Dhurandhar, saying that these are “strange times” where “truth is starting to be labelled as propaganda.” In an X post, Vanga added that anyone whose first instinct is to mock can hardly claim to be liberal.
Earlier on 9 April, photos of Vanga watching the film with Telugu actor Prabhas were circulating across social media platforms. Later last evening, Vanga penned his thoughts on X.
“Writers & actors built careers on propaganda, and the industry stayed quiet like cats. Now the same clan mock Dhurandhar. You don’t get to call yourself liberal if your first instinct is to mock. Don’t know when truth started getting labelled as propaganda…… strange times,” Vanga wrote.
He added: “COMING TO THE POINT….. I want to tell Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh… Yeh kaala drishti aise nahi jaayega… Muthi bhar ke laal mirch se kaam nahi chalega…. poora khet jalana padega (This evil eye won’t go away so easily… a mere handful of red chillies won’t do the trick… you’ll have to burn the entire field.) Watched Dhurandhar: The Revenge last night…. Outstanding film.”
Dhar reciprocated the admiration, saying that he loves the way Reddy stands his ground and gives it back when it matters. Dhar extended his “love to the legend Prabhas sir” and wished them luck for the release of their upcoming film, Spirit (2027).
“Mere Pyaare Sandeep (My dear Sandeep), I genuinely love the way you stand your ground and give it back when it matters. There’s a real honesty and belief in that, and it’s something I truly respect. I’ve always looked up to how you back your cinema without any doubt or noise. That kind of conviction reminds all of us to trust our voice and just go for it. Give my love to the Legend Prabhas sir! Big love and all the best for Spirit. Really looking forward to it. And if there’s ever anything I can do, I’d genuinely love to help a brother. Thanks again,” Dhar responded to Vanga’s tweet.

Legal troubles
Despite the praise surrounding the film, the controversies aren’t ending any time soon. Dhurandhar: The Revenge has now been drawn into a legal controversy. The issue revolves around the alleged use of the iconic song ‘Tirchi Topiwale’ from the 1989 film Tridev, leading Trimurti Films to file a lawsuit against Dhar’s production banner, B62 Studios.
Trimurti Films, which holds rights linked to the original track, has accused that the song, or a version closely resembling it, was used in Dhar’s 2026 film without proper authorisation or licensing.
The disputed track reportedly appears in a remixed form within the song ‘Rang De Lal’, composed by Shashwat Sachdev. The original composition was created by the duo Kalyanji–Anandji along with Viju Shah.
In its petition, Trimurti Films has requested an immediate halt to further use of the track, along with damages and additional relief.
Amid the chaos, the film continues to dominate the box office. It has reportedly grossed over Rs 1,653 crore worldwide.
Dhurandhar, released in December 2025, emerged as the highest-grossing film of the year. But the sequel surpassed the lifetime collection of the first film within just 11 days of its release in March 2026..
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is now moving closer to beating the domestic collections of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 (2024).
