New Delhi: In a nationwide effort, the Department of Posts has successfully completed its targets set for Special Campaign 4.0, contributing to the national mission for a Clean India. The campaign, exceeding its initial goal, covered all 1.65 lakh network sites across the country between October 2nd and 31st, a PIB press release stated.
The Department’s preparatory activities began on September 15th, 2024, culminating in the month-long campaign. This initiative saw the participation of the entire postal network, ensuring the Swachhta message reached even remote rural locations. The Department attributes this success to its focus on “saturation and institutionalization,” a goal it has been working towards since previous iterations of the Special Campaign and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Embracing the motto “Swabhav Swachhta, Sanskar Swachhta” (Cleanliness by Nature, Cleanliness by Habit), the Department of Posts reinforced its dedication to cleanliness as a core value. This approach, aligned with the principles of saturation, institutionalization, and internalization, aimed to embed Swachhta into the daily routines and operational processes of the department.
The campaign resulted in significant achievements, including the closure of 326 e-files, the review of approximately one lakh files with 66,650 weeded out, and the disposal of scrap that generated around Rs. 69 lakh in revenue. Furthermore, over one lakh public grievances were addressed, and approximately 40,600 sq. ft. of space was freed up.
The Department of Posts plans to build upon the successes of Special Campaign 4.0, engaging staff and citizens to maintain a clean and organised network across all post offices.
