New Delhi, Mar 30 (PTI) Members of the Delhi Women Congress on Monday staged a protest here against rising LPG prices and alleged supply shortages, carrying empty cylinders on their heads to highlight the issue.
“Women are standing in long queues for cylinders, and even after price hikes, cylinders are not easily available,” said Pushpa Singh, president of the Delhi Women Congress.
She added that repeated price hikes have made it increasingly difficult for households to manage daily cooking needs.
“The burden of inflation is falling the hardest on women. Even after paying higher prices, cylinders are not available on time,” Singh said.
Around 30 to 35 women participated in the demonstration to raise concerns over the availability and affordability of domestic LPG cylinders, particularly for lower-income households, she said.
Singh added that the turnout was limited due to permission-related constraints.
Protesters attempted to march from the Delhi Congress office towards the BJP headquarters but were stopped by police barricades en route. They also raised placards highlighting the alleged rise in inflation, unemployment and cost of essential commodities, Singh said. PTI MSJ RHL
