New Delhi, Apr 13 (PTI) The national capital witnessed clear skies on Monday, with day temperatures largely hovering around normal levels and the air quality remaining in the moderate category.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city’s temperature settled at 36 degrees Celsius, with the city’s base weather station in Safdarjung recording a maximum temperature of 36.1 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of the year.
Similar conditions prevailed at Lodhi Road, which also logged 36.1 degrees, while Ayanagar reported 36.2 degrees Celsius.
The Ridge station was slightly warmer at 37 degrees Celsius, marginally above normal, making it one of the hotter spots in the city.
In contrast, Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees, nearly two notches below normal.
Despite the marginal variations across stations, the overall weather remained steady, with clear skies and no rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 5.30 pm, the IMD stated.
Earlier in the day, Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 17.7 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees below normal. Lodhi Road was cooler at 16.4 degrees Celsius, while Ayanagar recorded 16.7 degrees, marking a dip of 4.1 degrees below the seasonal average.
At Palam, the minimum temperature stood at 19 degrees Celsius, also below normal, while the Ridge station recorded 18.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality continued to remain in the ‘moderate’ category with a 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 149, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi on Tuesday is likely to be 38 and 19 degrees Celsius respectively, the IMD said. PTI VBH RUK RUK
