New Delhi, Feb 9 (PTI) The Delhi Jal Board is preparing a micro summer action plan after holding consultations with MLAs regarding the demand for water in their areas, Vice Chairperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said.

Three rounds of meetings have been held with the MLAs of different constituencies to prepare the action plan.

“A micro summer action plan for water is being prepared with the suggestion of the MLAs. Seven to eight MLAs participate in each round of the meeting to discuss their water needs,” a statement quoted Bhardwaj as saying.

With the help of the MLAs, a Delhi Jal Board team is also making a list of areas where residents face acute water shortage during summers.

Delhi needs 1,200 million gallons of water a day (MGD) but the utility is able to provide only 990 MGD.

The Delhi Jal Board also said it would increase the capacity of the Yamuna Vihar sewage treatment plant from 45 MGD to 70 MGD, benefitting 6 lakh people in east Delhi. PTI GVS SZM
