Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 21 (PTI) A probe has been launched after a couple was found dead at their residence here, police said on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Reghunathan Nair and his wife Pushpa, residents of Mavadinada in Ollur.

According to police, the couple had not been seen and were unreachable by phone for the past several days.

Following a foul smell emanating from the house, neighbours alerted the police, who reached the spot at around 9 pm on Friday.

Upon breaking open the door, police found Nair hanging from the roof in the kitchen, while Pushpa was lying dead on the floor.

Police said the bodies were in a highly decomposed state, indicating that the deaths had occurred a few days earlier.

They also said that Nair was Pushpa’s second husband and the couple was leading an isolated life.

The bodies have been shifted to a nearby hospital for autopsy, which will ascertain the exact cause of death.

The Medical College police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. PTI TBA TBA ADB
