New Delhi, Apr 1 (PTI) A 41-year-old domestic cook was killed in a hit-and-run incident in south Delhi’s upscale area, Greater Kailash-I, with police identifying the offending vehicle and launching a manhunt to trace its driver, an official said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at 8.30 pm on Tuesday when Surendra Das, a resident of the locality, was riding his motorcycle in GK-I, and was hit by an unidentified car, the official said.
“Das, who worked as a domestic cook, suffered critical injuries in the collision. He was shifted to the National Heart Institute, where doctors declared him brought dead,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal said in a statement.
The officer said that an FIR under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered.
The officer further said that analysis of CCTV footage has led to the identification of the offending vehicle as a white Maruti Ciaz.
