New Delhi, Mar 19 (PTI) The Congress on Thursday released its third list of 22 candidates for the April 9 Assam Assembly polls.
The opposition party has so far announced a total of 87 candidates for the upcoming election in the northeastern state.
The Congress released its first list of 42 candidates on March 3 and another list of 23 candidates on Saturday.
The party has left 15 seats for its alliance partners in Assam.
The Central Election Committee of the party has selected the candidates for the upcoming Assam polls, a statement from All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary, organisation, K C Venugopal said.
According to the third list of candidates, Manik Brahma has been fielded from Kokrajhar (reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates), Sapali Marak from Baokhungri, Ashraphul Islam Sheikh from Parbatjhora, Baby Begum from Dhubri, Aftab Uddin Mollah from Jaleshwar, Pradip Sarkar from Abhayapuri and Matilal Narzary from Sidli Chirang (ST).
The 126-member Assam Assembly is scheduled to go to polls on April 9 and the counting of votes will be taken up on May 4.
