Pune, Mar 15 (PTI) There is sufficient LPG available and people need not queue up for gas, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday, accusing the Congress of creating fear among people amid the West Asia crisis.
He was responding to queries concerning allegations of cooking gas shortage in the country due to the ongoing US-Israeli war with Iran.
“Rahul Gandhi and the Congress are deliberately creating fear among people, resulting in citizens standing in queues for LPG cylinders. We have sufficient gas supply. There is absolutely no need to queue up for LPG anywhere,” he said.
The West Asia conflict has impacted the supply of crude oil and petroleum products, following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow water passage between Iran and Oman.
The Centre has said it is prioritising LPG for domestic cooking and essential sectors, like hospitals, while restricting supply to non-essential commercial enterprises, including restaurants. The government has asserted that there is no shortage of domestic LPG in the country. PTI COR NR
