Dehradun, Apr 12 (PTI) Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an on-site inspection of the venue on Sunday to take stock of the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
Dhami directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are made in a time-bound manner.
During the inspection, the chief minister reviewed various arrangements, including security, traffic management, parking, drinking water supply, electricity supply and sanitation. He said the event holds immense significance for the state.
During his visit, the prime minister will dedicate to the nation the 213-kilometre-long Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 11,963 crore. This expressway features a 12-kilometre-long wildlife corridor – the largest of its kind in Asia. Once operational, the journey from Dehradun to Delhi will be possible in approximately two-and-a-half hours.
Additionally, the prime minister will inaugurate the country’s first variable speed pump storage plant, located in Tehri. With a capacity of 1,000 megawatts, this plant has been constructed by THDC India within the Tehri Hydroelectric Project complex.
During the tour, the prime minister will address a public rally in Dehradun and will also offer prayers at the Maa Dat Kali temple at the Uttarakhand-Uttar Pradesh border.
The chief minister said that Prime Minister Modi shares a deep bond with Uttarakhand, and under his leadership, numerous development projects in the state have received approval.
Dhami said that schemes worth over Rs 2 lakh crore have already been implemented in the state, leading to substantial improvements in connectivity and infrastructure.
He added that major projects—such as the Char Dham All-Weather Road Project, the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Project, the Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib Ropeway Projects, and the Dehradun-Delhi Elevated Road—are steering the state’s development in a new direction.
Dhami further said it marks Prime Minister Modi’s 18th visit to Uttarakhand during his tenure as chief minister, and his 28th visit to the state overall since assuming the office of prime minister. PTI DPT HIG MNK MNK
