Jaipur, Mar 16 (PTI) A commotion broke out at the busy Badi Chaupar in the old city of Jaipur on Monday after a man climbed onto the roof of his car in the middle of the road and began shouting slogans demanding a ban on ‘bidis’ and cigarettes, police said.
The man, identified as Varun Jauhari, reached the area with two plastic containers filled with a substantial quantity of bidis and cigarettes. Standing on the roof of the vehicle, he raised slogans against tobacco products.
People gathered to watch, leading to traffic congestion and brief chaos in the area, police said.
Police rushed to the spot and tried to persuade him to come down, but he continued to create a ruckus while standing on the car roof.
Eventually, two police personnel climbed onto the vehicle and brought him down. He was then taken into custody.
Station House Officer, Manak Chowk police station, Rakesh Khyaliya said the man was detained for creating disturbance and obstructing traffic.
