Centre seeks applications for Central Vigilance Commissioner post

New Delhi, Apr 9 (PTI) The Centre has sought applications from eligible candidates to fill the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner in the probity watchdog CVC (Central Vigilance Commission).

“It is proposed to appoint the Central Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) against the vacancy due to arise with effect from August 3, 2026 upon completion of the tenure of the incumbent,” an order issued by the ministry of personnel said.

Praveen Kumar Srivastava, a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Service officer (retired) of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is currently working as the Central Vigilance Commissioner.

Citing eligibility criteria, the ministry said the Central Vigilance Commissioner would be appointed from amongst persons who have been or are in all-India service or in any civil service of the Union or in a civil post under the Union having knowledge and experience in matters related to vigilance, policy making and administration, including police administration.

Those who have held office or are holding office in a corporation established by or under any central Act or a government company owned or controlled by the central government and persons who have expertise and experience in finance including insurance and banking, law, vigilance, and investigation, are also eligible for the post, it said.

“All applicants should be of outstanding merit and impeccable integrity and should have knowledge and at least 25 years of experience in the relevant field(s),” said the order dated April 8.

The Central Vigilance Commissioner will hold office for a term of four years from the date on which he/she takes office or attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, it said.

Persons fulfilling the criteria for appointment may send their applications in a proforma to the Department of Personnel and Training, Kartavya Bhawan -3, New Delhi by May 18, 2026.
