New Delhi, Apr 8 (PTI) The CBI has arrested a manager and an investigator of National Insurance Company Limited in a bribery case involving an amount of more than Rs 2.6 lakh, officials said.
It is alleged that the accused had demanded an undue advantage of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant for reactivating the cashless medical facility for a private hospital in Haryana’s Manesar, they said on Tuesday.
The accused was deputed for an enquiry by National Insurance Company Limited.
“It is further alleged that the complainant has already given part of the bribe, Rs 1,00,000, out of the demanded bribe of Rs 3,00,000. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept an undue advantage of Rs 2,60,000 from the complainant,” a spokesperson of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a statement.
The spokesperson said the accused told the complainant to deliver the remaining bribe of Rs 1.6 lakh on Tuesday. The federal agency laid a trap and arrested the investigator red-handed while demanding the amount.
“During further trap proceedings, the role of the accused manager, National Insurance Company Ltd, also surfaced. The aforesaid both accused persons have been arrested,” the CBI spokesperson said. PTI ABS RC RUK RUK RUK
