New Delhi, Apr 13 (PTI) The CBI on Monday arrested a fugitive who was allegedly involved in the abduction of two Kolkata residents 11 years ago from his hideout in Surat, Gujarat, officials said.

Bhola Singh had allegedly orchestrated the abduction in West Bengal and went to Gujarat, where he was comfortably living with an assumed identity of Amit Sharma for almost 11 years, they said.

“Besides this case, the accused Bhola Singh is a wanted criminal in 11 cases registered by Bihar Police pertaining to abduction, attempt to murder, murder and possession of illegal arms and explosives,” a CBI spokesperson said in a statement.

The CBI teams swooped down Singh’s hideout in Surat, where he was arrested.

The case was referred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court on the plea of the mothers of the youths who had gone missing on July 14, 2014.

“The accused Bhola Singh was absconding since inception of the investigation in 2015 and has been located hiding in Surat using fake identity documents in the name of Amit Sharma,” it said. PTI ABS ABS MNK MNK
