Mumbai, Mar 28 (PTI) The Chikhli police in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district have registered an FIR against a petrol pump owner for allegedly selling 200 litres of diesel in a container, an official said on Saturday.
The action was taken after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
It showed a man arriving at the petrol pump in a tempo with a 200 litre water tank.
The pump employee filled it up with diesel, and the man left.
Based on a complaint filed by the Chikhli Tehsildar, a case was registered against the owner of Renuka Petroleum under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 223 (disobeying lawful order of public servant) and 287 (negligent conduct with comubstible material), the official said.
Petrol pumps are seeing a heavy rush on account of rumours of shortages amid the war in West Asia.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, and a non-cognizable offence has been registered at the Jalna Taluka Police Station, the official added. PTI ZA KRK
