Thane, Apr 12 (PTI) Three children, aged between nine and sixteen years, were safely rescued after they got trapped in a lift of a residential building due to a technical fault in Thane on Sunday evening, officials said.

“A technical fault occurred in a lift on the fourth floor of the TMC (Rental houses) building located at Kasarvadavali village on Ghodbunder Road, following which three children got trapped inside,” said Disaster Management Cell chief Yasin Tadvi.

The incident was reported to the Disaster Management Room at 7:18 PM by the Ovala Fire Station.

“Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot with a rescue vehicle, and a lift technician was also called in,” Tadvi added.

The children were rescued safely without injuries following coordinated efforts by local residents, the lift technician and fire brigade personnel, he said.

“The situation was brought under control promptly, and necessary checks were carried out to prevent any further risk,” Tadvi added. PTI COR NSK
