BRS only interested in ‘creating trouble, misleading people’: Telangana CM Reddy

Hyderabad, Apr 6 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday alleged that the BRS is focused on “creating trouble and misleading people” rather than adopting a constructive approach, and asserted that the Congress would return to power in the next Telangana assembly elections, scheduled for 2028.

Addressing a public meeting at Pipri in Adilabad district, Reddy announced plans to develop the district as an education, tourism, and industrial hub, including the establishment of an airport.

“We will carry forward development programmes regardless of politics. But some people do not like the development we are undertaking. They are coming to you as demon Maricha disguised as a golden deer,” he said.

According to legend, Maricha took the form of a golden deer and helped Ravana abduct Sita.

Referring to BRS leaders questioning why the government has not completed a proposed market yard in Hyderabad, he asked why the opposition party did not complete it when it was in power for 10 years.

Observing that the Congress government has undertaken several initiatives “neglected” by the previous BRS regime, he said there were still many projects that need to be implemented.

“The BRS needs to, at least, show some patience in attacking the Congress government. They don’t attend the assembly for serious debates, and they don’t speak when we listen to them. All they are interested in is creating trouble, mudslinging, and misleading people. But the public is not naive—they have seen you for 10 years,” Reddy said.

He highlighted government welfare initiatives such as free travel for women in state-run buses, the Arogya Sri health scheme, distribution of high-quality rice through the PDS, and the Indiramma housing scheme for the poor.

Reddy said the Congress would not allow the “feudal rule” of the BRS to return.

The CM assured that the state government would resume the Tummidihetti irrigation project on the Godavari River in Adilabad, which was re-engineered as part of the Kaleshwaram project by the BRS regime.

He said the government has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu to set up an airport at Adilabad. The foundation stone, he added, would be laid before Telangana Formation Day on June 2, if possible.

The government also plans to sanction the “largest industrial zone in the country” in Adilabad to provide jobs for Adivasi youth and others, while promoting tourism in the district.

Reddy also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 1,200 crore, fulfilling promises made by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka during his ‘padayatra’ before the 2023 assembly polls. PTI SJR SSK
