Hyderabad, Mar 17 (PTI) The BRS on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to its former MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy who was arrested along with two others following an alleged drug bust at a farmhouse in Moinabad in the city’s outskirts two days ago.
Soma Bharat Kumar, BRS General Secretary (Disciplinary Affairs), who issued the show cause notice, asked Rohith Reddy to stay away from party activities till a final decision is taken on the matter.
Bharat Kumar said the allegations against Rohith Reddy hurt the party’s prestige.
BRS, as a responsible political party, is committed to following the laws of the land and moral values and opposes any links with consumption of drugs, he said.
Observing that the BRS takes the allegations against Rohith Reddy seriously, Bharat Kumar said the former MLA, as per the directives of party president K Chandrasekhar Rao, should submit a clear and comprehensive reply within seven days of receiving the show cause notice.
If Rohith Reddy fails to submit a satisfactory reply before the deadline, disciplinary action would be taken against him without further notice as per the party’s constitution, Bharat Kumar said.
Rohith Reddy is currently on judicial remand in the case. PTI SJR SJR SA
