Alappuzha(Kerala), Apr 11 (PTI) BJP’s former Alappuzha north district vice-president Bindu Vinayakumar on Saturday filed a complaint with the police alleging that the party’s Palakkad candidate Sobha Surendran has threatened her in connection with the cash-for-vote accusations against her.
Vinayakumar also alleged that she has given complaints to BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar and the party’s national president Nitin Nabin against Surendran, who is the saffron party’s candidate from Palakkad Assembly constituency in the April 9 polls.
Following her allegations against Surendran, the BJP suspended Vinayakumar, a senior party leader from Alappuzha district, confirmed.
Speaking to reporters here, Vinayakumar claimed that Surendran had called her over the phone and accused her of sending money to Palakkad to orchestrate the cash-for-vote controversy.
“Sobha is obligated to prove her allegation. I challenge her to prove it,” she said.
Vinayakumar claimed that Sobha threatened and intimidated her over the phone, and she has filed a complaint with the Alappuzha SP in connection with that.
There was no immediate reaction from Sobha regarding this allegation.
The office of the Alappuzha SP confirmed receipt of the complaint and said that it has been forwarded to the concerned police station for further steps. PTI HMP ADB
