New Delhi: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has sanctioned 82 research and development (R&D) projects for up to six months worth of research. The projects, with budgets ranging up to Rs 10 lakh each, will work towards strengthening and diversifying the country’s research and development capacity, a PIB press release stated.
The selected projects will focus on research and development of artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, medical devices, renewable energy, sustainability, smart cities, and digital transformation. The BIS said that the new initiative would help in creating standards that safeguard consumers and ensure the quality and reliability of innovative products and services.
Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director General, BIS, said, “Our collaboration with premier educational institutions and the sanctioning of numerous R&D projects signify our commitment to advancing the standardisation process in line with technological advancements and evolving industry needs.”
