Patna, Mar 23 (PTI) Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar on Monday announced the results of the Class 12 state board examinations, with 85.19 per cent students clearing the test.

Talking to reporters, Kumar said the overall pass percentage of girls and boys was 86.23 per cent and 84.09 per cent, respectively.

A total of 13.04 lakh students had appeared for the annual intermediate exam.

“This is the eighth consecutive time that Bihar has announced intermediate results before any other state in the country,” he said.

Overall, 5,16,928 students got first division, 5,11,744 students secured second division, and 82,425 passed with third division, a statement issued by the Bihar School Examination Board said.

“Out of the total 26 top-5 rankers across streams, 20 are female, and the rest are male. While a boy has topped the examination in the science stream, toppers in the arts and commerce streams are female students,” he said.

The education minister said through the use of technology, the evaluation process was completed within 25 days in a fair and transparent manner.

BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor said science student Aditya Prakash Aman of Samastipur district topped the examination with 481 marks (96.2 per cent).

In the arts faculty, Nishu Kumari of Gaya Ji district was the topper with 479 marks (95.8 per cent), while Aditi Kumari of Patna secured the first position with 480 marks (96 per cent) in the commerce stream, he said.

“Congratulations to those who passed, and for those who could not do well, they will get a chance to reappear. I urge their parents to support and encourage them,” Sunil Kumar said.

The BSEB chief said students who did not pass or are dissatisfied with their results can apply for re-evaluation from March 25 to April 2.

Commerce topper Aditi Kumari attributed her success to parents and brother.

“My parents supported me a lot during my preparation. They are actually happier than me at present. I also took great help from my elder brother, who inspired me to make the toughest subject, accountancy, my biggest strength. He helped me with his books and notes,” she said.

Aditi said she had a flexible routine during her preparation.

“I would study for an hour, take a 15-minute break, then study for two or three more hours. Sometimes, I studied till late in the night, but that was not a routine affair,” she said.

Aditi aims to become a chartered accountant in future.

Science topper Aditya Prakash Aman, son of a government teacher, told reporters here that he counted on self-study for his preparations, and followed the guidelines of teachers and parents.

Nishu Kumari, daughter of a farmer in Bihar’s Gaya Ji district, who stood first in the arts stream, said: “I can’t put my happiness into words. I certainly put a lot of hard work into preparations, be it study, revision or practice.” PTI SUK RG RBT
