Patna, Mar 30 (PTI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday paid tributes to the founding father of Mauritius, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.
Choudhary attended a programme organised by the International Cooperation Council at Ramgulam Chowk in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, and garlanded his statue.
“Ramgoolam ji’s ancestral roots are linked to Bihar, a connection he often recalled during his lifetime. His life, inspired by the soil of Bihar, stood as a symbol of sacrifice, service and dedication to public welfare,” Choudhary said in a post on X.
“Ideals of such great personalities motivate us to work continuously for the development of society and the nation,” he added.
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, widely regarded as the architect of modern Mauritius, played a pivotal role in leading the country to independence in 1968 and served as its first Prime Minister. PTI SUK RBT
