Patna, Mar 13 (PTI) The Bihar Assembly on Friday morning received a bomb threat via email, which later turned out to be a hoax, officials said.
The email threat was received at 11.11 am, prompting secretary in-charge Khyati Singh to inform Speaker Prem Kumar, they added.
Kumar took notice of the threat and held a meeting with senior officials of the Assembly secretariat.
He instructed officers to inform the chief secretary and the DGP about the situation, and ensure a thorough search of the assembly premises, an official statement said.
Acting swiftly on the instructions, the administration deployed Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and sniffer dogs, and police intensively inspected the premises in the presence of the Speaker, it added.
Officials said no explosive or suspicious substances were found during the inspection of the premises.
The development comes ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls in the state on March 16, voting for which is scheduled to be held on the assembly premises. PTI SUK RBT MNB
