Bhiwandi Nizampur civic body presents Rs 1,179 crore budget for 2026-27

Thane, Mar 25 (PTI) The Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNMC) in Maharashtra has presented a budget of Rs 1,179.10 crore for 2026-27, outlining key allocations for infrastructure, education, transport and welfare schemes, officials said on Wednesday.

In the budget presented by municipal commissioner Anmol Sagar on Tuesday, Rs 25 crore has been earmarked for a 100 MLD water supply project under AMRUT 2.0, while Rs 3.50 crore has been allocated for hiring skilled staff in the fire and technical departments.

As per government norms, 5 per cent of surplus income has been earmarked for welfare schemes, with Rs 326.40 lakh allocated for women, children, weaker sections and persons with disabilities, the civic body said in a release.

The budget also provides Rs 4 crore for the repair of municipal school buildings and Rs 59.42 crore towards infrastructure under the Urban Upliftment and Basic Development Scheme, of which Rs 22 crore is reserved for next year’s planning.

A sum of Rs 5 crore has been allocated as the civic body’s share for PM e-buses, while Rs 10 crore has been set aside for GIS-based mapping of properties to strengthen tax assessment.

Revenue sources are led by GST grants (36.5 per cent), followed by capital income (25.4 per cent), while major expenditure heads include revenue and capital works (33.7 per cent) and salaries (31.7 per cent), the release added. PTI COR GK
