Kolkata, Mar 12 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday attended an Iftar programme organised by members of the Muslim community in south Kolkata ahead of Eid ul-Fitr.
Banerjee, who is also the chairperson of the Trinamool Congress, joined community members, religious leaders and party workers at the gathering in Khidderpore area.
She exchanged greetings with the attendees and wished for peace, harmony and prosperity.
Such Iftar gatherings are organised across the state during Ramazan, bringing together people from different communities to mark the breaking of the day-long fast.
The event at Nawab Ali Park was also attended by her cabinet colleague and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and several local leaders. PTI SUS RBT
