New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken off roster the flight crew and engineers of the SpiceJet aircraft that felt severe turbulence while landing Sunday evening in West Bengal’s Durgapur from Mumbai.
The crew, the aircraft maintenance engineer and SpiceJet’s in-charge of maintenance control centre, have been grounded till the probe ended.
The DGCA also said two of the 14 injured in the craft were in intensive care.
The aircraft is grounded in Kolkata, the aviation body said, while its team probed the incident.
SpiceJet in a statement Monday said the seat belt sign was on when the aircraft encountered turbulence and several announcements were also made by crew members asking passengers to remain seated.
The DGCA investigative team will also meet injured passengers to hear their version.
The passengers sustained injuries, some on their heads, as cabin baggage fell on many of them. However, the flight landed safely at Durgapur airport.
