Assam: Storm damages around 100 houses in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh (Assam), Mar 12 (PTI) Over a hundred people have been affected in a storm in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Thursday, officials said.

The storm was followed by a heavy spell of rain, which damaged houses and crops, they said.

“Over a hundred people were affected in Lezai Kalakhowa area of Dibrugarh after a devastating storm wreaked havoc in the area,” an official said.

According to reports, several villages in Dighalia and Panigaon have suffered extensive damage, he added.

“Around noon, a heavy storm damaged houses and crops. A cow was also killed. We want full compensation from the government,” a victim, whose house was completely damaged, said.
