Guwahati, Apr 12 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday condoled the death of singer Asha Bhosle and said her voice will live on forever.
Bhosle died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at the age of 92. She was admitted to the medical establishment on Saturday evening due to a chest infection and exhaustion.
“I would have liked to tell Asha Didi…’abhi na jao chhod kar’ (Don’t leave us now)…But today, her voice falls silent,” Sarma said in a post on X.
He said the demise of Bhosle leaves behind an “irreplaceable void”.
“Her songs were not just music, but memories woven into our lives. Some voices never fade. Hers will live on forever. Om Shanti,” Sarma added.
Bhosle, the legend, refused to be bracketed into any one genre and stepped out of the shadows of her sister Lata Mangeshkar’s greatness to create her own universe in Hindi playback singing. PTI TR TR BDC
