Ranchi, Apr 12 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday paid rich tributes to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, saying her melodious voice worked to connect generations and her legacy will be forever alive.
Bhosle died at the age of 92 at a private hospital in Mumbai on Sunday following multiple organ failure.
The news of the demise of the renowned singer is extremely heart-wrenching and shocking, Soren said.
“Her melodious and vibrant voice worked to connect generations and took Indian music to new heights. Asha ji was not just a singer; she was an epoch in music, in whose every performance the colours of life, the depth of emotions, and the truth of the soul shone through. Her departure is an irreparable loss not only for the world of art but for the entire nation,” Soren posted on X.
He added, “Today, the entire country is grief-stricken by her passing. Her songs, her voice, and her legacy will forever remain alive in our hearts and continue to inspire future generations.” Soren prayed to Marang Buru (supreme tribal deity) to grant peace to the departed soul and provide strength to the bereaved family, fans, and all fellow citizens of the country to bear this sorrow.
Asha Bhosle was admitted to the hospital Saturday evening due to a chest infection and exhaustion, according to her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle.
Born on September 8, 1935, in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, she was initiated into music by her father Dinanath Mangeshkar, just like her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar. PTI NAM RG
