Chandigarh, Apr 12 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday expressed grief over the demise of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle and said her death marks the end of a golden era in music.
Bhosle passed away on Sunday in a Mumbai hospital at the age of 92.
“The news of the demise of famous singer and ‘Padma Vibhushan’ awardee Asha Bhosle ji is extremely sad. Her passing away marks the end of a golden era in music. It is an irreparable loss to the world of music. Her invaluable contribution to the Indian music will be remembered for centuries. My deepest condolences to her bereaved family and her countless fans. I pray to God to give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow,” Mann said in Punjabi on X.
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also condoled the demise of the famous singer and said her legacy will live on forever.
“Deeply saddened by the demise of legendary singer Asha Bhosle.
Her timeless voice defined generations and enriched Indian music with unmatched grace and versatility. Heartfelt condolences to her family and countless admirers. Her legacy will live on forever,” Warring said.
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh also expressed grief over the death of Bhosle.
“The news of the demise of Asha Bhosle ji, the nightingale of the Indian music world and a great singer, is extremely heartbreaking and painful. I pray to God to grant her a place at His divine feet and bestow strength upon her millions of fans to endure this sorrow,” said Chugh.
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia also expressed grief over the death of Bhosle.
“Deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of legendary singer Asha Bhosle ji. Heartfelt condolences to the family in this difficult time. May the Almighty grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss,” said Majithia.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan expressed deep grief over the demise of Bhosle.
He said her songs will always live in our hearts and mesmerise people across the globe.
Advisor to the Punjab Culture and Tourism department, Deepak Bali, said the country has lost such a great voice, which ruled the hearts of people for decades with her melodies.
