New Delhi: After his health minister was jailed by central agencies in a disproportionate-assets case earlier this week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is apprehensive that his deputy Manish Sisodia would be next.
The Aam Aadmi Party chief said Thursday: “Credible sources have told me that the Centre will arrest Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia under bogus charges.”
Sisodia is also the health minister of the state.
The Delhi Chief Minister appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get “all his ministers probed together and sent to jail”. “Public work will be hampered if they are sent one by one,” he said.
Kejriwal is equally baffled at the “politics behind sending Jain and Sisodia to jail”. He feels the Centre wants to stop the good work being done in the health and education sectors in Delhi.
“This will only harm the country,” he added
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday arrested Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain in connection with a 2017 disproportionate-assets case, allegedly involving hawala transactions via shell companies.
Kejriwal called the charges “fake” and said he had warned of this possible arrest a few months ago.
Jain has been accused of “acquisition of assets disproportionate to his income” to the tune of Rs 1.47 crore (over 200 per cent more than his income).
It is also alleged that the companies in which Jain was a director laundered money of Rs 11.78 crore between 2010 and 2012 and Rs 4.63 crore in 2015-16, when Jain was a public servant. This is now under probe by the ED.
