Amaravati, Mar 12 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister P Keshav on Thursday blamed former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for the total revenue deficit in the current TDP-led NDA government, after the Opposition leader criticised the present regime for allegedly causing economic devastation.
On Wednesday, Reddy accused N Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA alliance government of accumulating debts in two years equal to 97 per cent of the total amount borrowed during his entire five-year regime between 2019 and 2024.
Observing that there was increased dependence on borrowings for financing expenditure under the NDA government, the former CM said revenue deficit shot up by 56 per cent in FY25 at Rs 60,285 crore compared to Rs 38,682 crore in the final year of the YSRCP government, 2023-24.
However, Keshav held Reddy responsible for the total revenue deficit in the current government, which assumed charge in June 2024.
“Even after the arrival of the new government, you (Jagan) are the reason for the total revenue deficit,” Keshav said, addressing a press conference in the secretariat.
Further, he noted that the government was still under YSRCP for two and a half months after the 2024 polls and before the NDA alliance government took charge.
In just two months, Rs 26,441 crore revenue deficit was caused by Jagan, he alleged.
Accusing the opposition leader of quoting debt figures at will, Keshav asserted that every rupee under the NDA government is going to the treasury.
He accused Reddy of repeating lies 10 times to make them look truthful, but highlighted that CAG reports are the best testimony of the alleged economic devastation caused by the former CM.
Moreover, he advised Reddy to stop telling alleged lies. PTI STH ADB
